How can I find out what a house sold for in Ireland?

Every residential sale since 2010 is recorded on the Property Price Register (PPR), which is run by the Property Services Regulatory Authority. On PropData you can search by address or Eircode to see each recorded sale of a property, its price and date, together with the median price in the surrounding town and county.

How accurate is the Property Price Register?

Accepted Answer

Prices come from stamp duty returns, so they are the declared sale price. New builds are recorded excluding VAT; PropData adds 13.5% so they compare like for like with second-hand homes. The register does not record size, bedrooms or condition, and addresses are entered by hand, so some spellings vary.

How often is PropData updated?

Sales from the Property Price Register are imported every week, and address pages, town pages and the market report are regenerated at the same time. Sales can take several weeks to appear on the register after completion.

Can I see the BER of a specific house?

Accepted Answer

No. The SEAI BER database is anonymised and does not publish addresses, so PropData shows the distribution of energy ratings for an area rather than the rating of an individual home.
